July 3, 2023 – One of the longest transfer sagas of this summer’s transfer window has ended. Croatia national team player Marcelo Brozović has left Inter Milan after eight years and became a player for Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr.
Al Nassr is the current runner-up of the Saudi Arabian Premier League, and Brozović will share the dressing room with Cristiano Ronaldo, reports Index.hr.
The Saudi club’s negotiations with Inter about player compensation for the Croatian midfielder lasted for a long time, as well as the negotiations with Brozović himself about his salary in the Saudi capital, Riyadh. Inter will earn 18 million euros from his sale.
Inter asked for more at first, but this amount will also help them with one of their main goals this summer, which is buying Romelu Lukaku’s contract from Chelsea. Brozović initially asked Al Nassr for a two-year contract, according to which he would earn 30 million euros per season, but in the end, he settled for a slightly lower salary.
According to information from Fabrizio Romano and the Italian media, according to the three-year contract, he will earn between 27 and 28 million euros per year, which still makes him the highest-paid Croatian football player in history. Brozović underwent a medical examination in Paris, and his presentation in Riyadh is expected soon. He also had an offer from Barcelona but decided to reject the Catalan club due to the richer offer in Saudi Arabia.
