A nutty joie de vivre at 13.5%. It has something in those firm, peasant, ‘work’ notes which keeps it real, grounded, unimposing, fitting with good food.
I don’t expect Maraština to provide sensations of tropical fruit or similar banalities. I expect a firm structure and vinified character.
Next to so many aperitif wines with crispy freshness and pronounced drinkability, which Maraština is provenly capable of, the best choice is for the cultivation to focus on concentrating indigenous continental-Mediterranean aromas.
Here in Plastovo it enjoys special microclimate conditions. Along with bushes and herbs, it gains peach, apricot, chamomile, ethereality and savour in one.
The 2015 Maraština is especially successful, smooth, soft and whole, still presenting the grapes of ideal condition which it came from.
