Price: 95,00 kn in Butiga wine shop
After an ungrateful 2014, the 2015 harvest brings plenty of Vis into glasses.
This year, one of the wines whose added value is unthinkable is Radan’s Vugava. I haven’t written of Radan before, although we had his Plavac at a themed workshop of the Wine Reading Room “Glasses to Vis.” This is a Vugava from Dračevo field, one of the six karst fields of Vis island.
What do I mean about added value… I can imagine myself on Vis, listening to crickets somewhere on the sand among the weeds which never bothered anyone, surrounded by bees looking at the vineyard on the karst hill.
Not just in space. I travel through time. Samphire of a different taste.
The wine of Vugava. Oxidative in the best tradition.
Resolute as weeds in a stone crevice. Won’t turn into anything evaporative.
But it does emanate something medicinal and healing. Sun-burnt bushes and weeds.
The aroma of Vugava that shines and is drunk easily despite the fullness of its southern temperament.
