Total Croatia News

Updated on:

The world of Croatian wine lost one of its giants earlier this year, as pioneering Hvar winemaker Zlatan Plenković died suddenly on the ferry from Split to Stari Grad. Read the TCN tribute to Zlatan in the link below.

The Zlatan Otok winery has come up with a fitting way to honour the memory of the great man, a very limited edition

Zlatan Pošip Aurum:

-limited edition wine
-wintage 2015
-23 karat edible gold leafs
-13% alcohol
-price: 300,00 kn

The wine is limited edition and can only be bought in wineries restaurant and marina Bilo Idro in Sveta Nedjelja. As we know of, it is the first Croatian wine with gold because so far there were only sparkling wines with gold. Maybe sometime in the future we will increase the production and distribute it outside the island beacause the interest for it is big.

We wanted to do something in honor of Zlatan so we came to idea of white wine with gold leafs. Zlatan achieved many successes with this wine so we decided to do it with pošip. Gold represents him and the vinery as his legacy also, not just beacause his name, and the name of winery in croatian language means gold, also because Zlatan was such great person, loved by many people.

And while this may be the first wine with gold flakes from the island of Hvar, it is not the most expensive. Meet the most expensive olive oil in the world, which sold out in exclusive London store Harrods for a staggering £750 per 0.2 litre bottle.
