Winery Medea – Salvela in Vodnjan

Total Croatia News

Medea wines come from southern Istria, the area of Medulin and Pula. The vineyards stretch for 60 hectares, covered mostly in Istrian Malvasia and Merlot, with new vineyards of Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Terrano, Refošk and Syrah. The most important winery products are Malvasia Medea Montiron named after the vineyard toponym over 30 years old from which a limited edition is gained, while the other is a Merlot Punta Greca. Grapes for this wine are grown in the southern most Istrian vineyard, at the Punta Greca toponym.

Medea wines have gained a line of awards in the last several years at prestigious competitions, culminating in the continuing gold medals at Vinistra in the Malvasia category, in Brtonigla and Split, while a leap was made into world fairs where significant results were also achieved, specifically at Decanter and Mundus Vini.

Extra virgin olive oil Salvela is made of olives grown in the Barbariga and Fažana areas. The Barbariga area, across from the Brijuni archipelago, is naturally protected from the north and south, hence olives have been grown there since Roman times.

Renown world experts gathered in New York and reviewed around 800 samples of olive oil and judged Salvela to be best. This prestigious award is only part of a great international success and confirmation of long term quality.
