The famous Croatian photographer Stefan Lupino, a good friend of Ms. Turbeville, together with other members of the Photo-club Split buried part of her ashes in front of the his residence in Pitve. According to the wishes of Deborah Turbeville, her ashes should be partly scattered into the Atlantic Ocean, Pitve, St. Petersburg and Paris.
Deborah Turbeville, who was a close friend of Jacqueline Kennedy and Karl Lagerfeld was awarded by the prestigious American Bookworks and for the last four years of her life, she was working exclusively with the prestigious Italian fashion house Valentino. She visited Hvar island and Pitve on several occasions and loved the untouched nature and according to Slobodna Dalmacija, being able to always find peace in this small village was the reason to “stay here forever” in a way.
