November 1, 2023 – Though the weather has been all but indicative of that, apparently, it is time to brace ourselves yet again, as winter is coming in Croatia. At least when it comes to some aspects of it. If you live in Croatia, you might already know, but it doesn’t hurt to recap the Croatian winter traffic rules.
As Poslovni writes, the Ministry of Interior is sending out a reminder on the Croatian winter traffic rules for all drivers. By the provisions of Article 102 of the Road Traffic Safety Act (Official Gazette No. 67/08, 48/10, 74/11, 80/13, 158/13, 92/14, 64/15). , 108/17., 70/19., 42/20., 85/22. and 114/22.), the use of daytime running lights or dipped headlights during the day on motor vehicles is mandatory from November 1 to March 31.
Drivers of mopeds and motorcycles, on the other hand, are obliged to have their daytime lights on their vehicles turned on all the time, all year round. In case of non-compliance with the mentioned legal provisions, the driver will be fined 30 euros, writes HAK.
In addition to the above, in accordance with Article 101 of the cited Law, drivers riding bicycles and other personal vehicles from the first dusk until full dawn (at night) and during the day in case of reduced visibility must have one white light on the front of their bicycle or personal vehicle and one red light on the back. In case of non-compliance with the mentioned legal provisions, the driver of a bicycle or a personal means of transport will be fined 60 euros.
Furthermore, it is worth mentioning that winter equipment on all vehicles in Croatia becomes mandatory on the 15th of November and remains in force until the 15th of April next year. Mandatory use of winter equipment applies to all types of motor vehicles, regardless of weather conditions and road conditions, with the exception of vehicles of the armed forces of the Republic of Croatia. The fines reach up to 130 euros.
