December the 5th, 2023 – The first phase of the much anticipated Rimac Campus is now entering completion, and within a couple of months, things are set to progress significantly.
As Poslovni Dnevnik/Marko Brkljacic writes, the year that is almost now over, as well as the upcoming period, has been marked by growth for the Rimac Group. This has all been true in terms of the number of employees, projects undertaken, and steps made into new projects and markets. The Rimac Group brings together two companies: Bugatti Rimac, focused on the design, development and production of hypercars under the brands Bugatti and Rimac Automobili, and Rimac Technology, focused on the development and production of technologies and components for automobile manufacturers’ vehicles.
The Rimac Group, together with its affiliated companies, currently has slightly more than 2,000 employees at 8 locations spanning 5 countries. The group has had several successful rounds of capital raising, and since 2017 alone, around 850 million euros of private capital has been raised in three rounds of financing from investors such as Porsche, Hyundai, KIA, Investindustrial, Softbank and Goldman Sachs.
The new Rimac Campus represents an enormous step forward
This year, the enterprise opened an office in Bologna in Italy and leased new office facilities in Buzin in Istria. In the last year alone, it hired more than 400 new employees. Now, the completion of the first phase of the Rimac Campus is underway, to which the company is set to move the production part of both companies in a few months. The campus will be one of the largest development – research and production complexes in all of Europe, not only in the automotive industry.
The value of the total investment stands at more than 200 million euros, and the capacity of the upcoming Rimac Campus itself is more than 2,500 people. The new location of Rimac Campus is located just a few kilometres from the current headquarters of Rimac Automobili, a mere sixteen kilometres from the heart of Zagreb. The company is set to continue growing and increasing the number of projects in has in 2024.
A new project for Rimac Technology
At Rimac Technology, the implementation of a new, very large project is starting, which will take up most of the campus’s capacity in the coming years. Rimac Technology plans t continue to expand its activities in the development, production and export of high-performance battery systems, electric powertrains, and electronic systems. It’s already fairly well known that Rimac Technology has collaborated with many global car manufacturers including Porsche, Hyundai, Automobili Pininfarina, Koenigsegg, and Aston Martin, while many other projects are still unknown to the public due to the specifics of the contracts concluded with various clients.
Rimac Energy and Bugatti Rimac
At Rimac Energy, a sub-brand of Rimac Technology which says its primary mission is to accelerate the transition to clean and sustainable energy by delivering highly efficient ESS solutions, they’re continuing to develop products and projects for which there is great customer interest. The Bugatti Rimac team is set to present a new Bugatti model in 2024, to which they’ve already had great reactions during a private screening at an event with Bugatti distributors from around the world. The company is also planning to present several novelties related to the outstanding Nevera.
Continued expansion and rapid development
The Rimac Group’s continued expansion and rapid development is taking place in a rapidly altering and very dynamic global environment which has recently been characterised by constant uncertainty. The company, like many others, is facing numerous challenges such as inflation, interest rate fluctuations and geopolitical tensions. That said, it’s precisely these challenges that encourage the company’s fluid adaptations in order to become more agile, efficient and better organised.
The Rimac Group is constantly working on improving all of its processes and raising the level of development of its digital systems with the aim of ensuring maximum efficiency in order to prepare for the diverse projects ahead of them.
