April the 10th, 2024 – Zagreb wages paid out in January this year were 170 euros higher than the typical sum paid out monthly across the rest of the country.
As Poslovni Dnevnik writes, compared to the average monthly salary earned for the month of January 2024 in the Republic of Croatia, which then stood at 1,239 euros, the average Zagreb wages (net) paid out for that month was 170 euros higher.
The highest average net salary of 2,184 euros was paid in the activity of crude oil and natural gas extraction.
The median net salary for Croatia back in January this year was 1201 euros, which means that half of the employees had less and half more than that amount. The average monthly paid net salary per hour for January 2024 was 7.59 euros.
The average monthly gross salary per employee in legal entities in the City of Zagreb for January 2024 was 1,987 euros, which is an increase of 4.5 percent compared to December 2023 and an increase of 12.5 percent compared to January 2023.
It’s no surprise to most that Zagreb wages typically total more given the fact that it is the largest city, the capital city, and home to an increasingly wide variety of companies and entities, both foreign and domestic. The average salary has grown across Croatia for the vast majority (if not all) sectors over more recent years, alongside numerous strategic goals that had been set by the Croatian Government (this included Schengen and Eurozone accession, both of which took place on January the 1st, 2023).
