Main city beach undergoing a mini facelift
Split’s main city Beach Bačvice will no longer be just a place for a great swim, game of picigin and a fantastic location for a coffee for grownups. Now the kids will also get their own fun corner with swing sets, playhouses, sand boxes and seesaws in a brand new park. Playground will be built on the plateau east of café Žbirac which is ideal because now you’ll be able to sit back and relax in one of Split’s favourite cafes and keep an eye on your youngsters.
According to Nikša Ivanović, CEO of “Bačvice plaža”, company that has a concession for the beach, this entire area will be landscaped with trees and greenery: “This entire project will cost between 30 000 and 40 000 kuna, most of which was raised through various donations and in the future we are planning to refurbish the entire concrete area towards “Željezničar” which will cost 100 000 kuna. We would also like to point out that we are open to any ideas for the beach, swimmers and children. The point is to make Bačvice a beach for everyone to enjoy, we’re not here just to make money from it”.
