September 22, 2024 – 16-year-old Bruno Durdov is showing incredible promise in his young years, proving he is a player to watch in Croatian football.
Bruno Durdov, Hajduk’s 16-year-old winger, scored his first two goals in official matches on Saturday night. He scored at Poljud in the 11th minute to make it 1-1 against Gorica, assisted by his idol Marko Livaja.
Durdov showed exceptional composure when he received the ball in the opponent’s penalty area. With a fake, he threw a Gorica defender onto the pitch, then sent the ball under the crossbar with his left foot.
Durdov also scored the second goal to give Hajduk the 2-1 lead in the second half. In the 55th minute, Durdov shot from 20 meters and put the ball under the crossbar, again with his left foot. The match ended 4-1 for Hajduk after Livaja scored from the penalty spot and Sigur found the back of the net with a Rakitic assist. Hajduk now sits at the top of the table with 17 points, taking advantage of Dinamo’s shocking loss to Slaven Belupo yesterday (also 4-1).
A lot is expected from the Hajduk winger. In the past three games, coach Gennaro Gattuso has started him from the first minute. Durdov impressed the Italian manager during pre-season training, and in six games, he has scored three goals and assisted twice.
With the goal to equalize against Gorica, at 16 years, 9 months and 10 days, Bruno Durdov thus became the youngest scorer for Hajduk in the history of SuperSport HNL. Until now, the record was held by Nikola Vlašić, who in November 2014 at the age of 17 years and 29 days scored against Zadar
Durdov plays as a right winger; his left foot is stronger than his right. Although he was a cadet (2007), he played for Hajduk juniors, who are two years older than him. Today, Transfermarkt values him at 150,000 euros, but it is to be expected that this price will increase over time.
