October 6, 2024 – Croatian football legend Ivan Rakitić has scored his first goal in SHNL, giving Hajduk the 1-0 lead in the 2nd minute against Šibenik.

Hajduk and Šibenik close the ninth round of the SuperSport HNL at Poljud on Sunday. With a win, Hajduk sits alone in first place given Rijeka and Slaven Belupo drew in Koprivnica on Saturday.

Šibenik arrived at Poljud in 5th place with 11 points, but Mario Carević’s side has recorded four games without a defeat.

However, Hajduk answered their undefeated streak in the 2nd minute of the match, when Ivan Rakitić scored his first goal for the Split club.

The action started with SHNL ‘September Player of the Month’ Marko Livaja and ended with an assist by Leon Dajaku. The former Croatia national team player (not to mention Barcelona and Sevilla player) perfectly placed the ball into the goal, scoring from about eight meters out to give Hajduk the 1-0 lead. And the Split crowd went wild.

In the 17th minute, 16-year-old wonder kid Bruno Durdov increased the score to 2-0 for Hajduk, with what could potentially be considered the goal of the season. But let’s take this moment to celebrate Rakitić’s first as we recover from the second.

Bravo, Ivane!
