One of the best Beer Sommelier Courses now available in Croatia too
Here’s some good news for all beer lovers wanting to become accredited beer sommeliers as published by one of Croatia’s most prominent beer bloggers Zoran Vitas on December 11, 2015. You no longer have to travel to London to get your necessary qualifications since The Beer Academy courses will be available in Croatia as of January 2016!
Three Beer Academy courses are essential for all of those wishing to become a beer sommelier, and all courses will take place at the Food Culture Centre in Zagreb (Centar za kulturu prehrane).
All information can be found on the official webpage of the CENTRE and here are just a few notes on the Beer Academy, which is almost identical to the Wine and Spirit Education Trust, specialized school for wines.
The Beer Academy is an educational body dedicated to helping people understand, appreciate and enjoy beer sensibly. Founded in 2003 by a small group of beer enthusiasts, it quickly attracted support from brewers (large and small), beer retailers, trade associations and consumer groups who funded the start-up costs and enabled the Academy to put together a series of courses and training materials delivered by a small group of experienced and knowledgeable tutors with a real passion for beer.
In 2007 the Beer Academy became an operating arm of the Institute of Brewing and Distilling (IBD), the largest expert organization of the brewing industry. It offers a series of courses delivered (all can be tailored) by their team of experienced and knowledgeable tutors, and their courses range from online beer steward course, 90 minute tastings, beer & food matching course, the foundation Course, the advanced course and the how to judge beer course. The beer academy sommelier scheme, same one that is coming to Croatia, has immediately proved to be highly popular and offers recognition of a depth of knowledge of beer styles and beer and food matching for successful candidates.
Food Culture Centre in Zagreb has been the education partner of the Beer Academy since August 2015 and courses will be organized in Croatian and English while all materials will be in English as well as all the exams. Certificate is issued by the London centre.
