Minister Tomislav Tolušić and Mayor Milan Bandić support the government’s reform plans.
Minister of Regional Development and EU Funds Tomislav Tolušić pointed out that the reform measures, which the government will present this week, had been agreed with other coalition partners. Milan Bandić, the Mayor of Zagreb and president of the Bandić Milan 365 party, which is a part of the ruling coalition, confirmed that all members of the coalition had been informed about the proposed projects and programmes, reports Index.hr on April 25, 2016.
Minister Tolušić and Mayor Bandić spoke with reporters after they participated in the promotional event for the “Croatian Island Product” project at the Ban Jelačić Square in Zagreb, together with Tourism Minister Anton Kliman.
Asked if the reform measures had been agreed with other coalition partners, Minister Tolušić answered: “Yes. The reform measures have been drafted at the level of all 20 ministries.” Reacting to statements by representatives of HSS and HSLS that they had not seen any proposals, the Minister clarified that he was speaking just about the government. “I believe that other partners will support this”, he added.
Mayor Bandić reiterated that his party would always be “for real reforms, for the betterment of the city of Zagreb and Croatia”. Asked about whom he was talking about when he spoke twice about a possible reshuffle within the ruling coalition, Bandić said that “there is no need for reshuffle if people do their jobs”.
“Be patient. I have said that the government needs to make right moves within six months. I believe that this government will do just that”, said Bandić. Journalists then reminded Bandić that he announced he would double the number of his MPs. Currently, his parliamentary group includes four MPs – Miodrag Demo and Sandra Perković, who were elected as members of his party, as well as minority representatives Ermina Lekaj Prljaskaj and Vladimir Bilek.
“I will do what I have announced. But, be patient. I know you are curious. But, I will do it when I want it”, said Bandić. Asked if he had talked with anyone from MOST, Bandić confirmed that he was talking with everyone. “I have been the Mayor of Zagreb for 16 years. So, they are calling me more than I am calling them. The Mayor of Zagreb is the second most important executive office in this country”, said Bandić.
Finally, asked about yesterday’s statement by HSP AS that Interior Minister Vlaho Orepić (MOST) should resign, Bandić said that the resignation would not mean anything. “Everybody should do their job”, said the Mayor.
