Fire Drill on Western Riva Today at 10am!!

A planned fire drill is happening at and around Banovina (City Hall) today at 10am! Certain roads around Banovina and on the Western Riva will be closed for motorized vehicles, including public transportation, beginning at 10am and lasting through midday. 

 

Don’t be alarmed (but be aware) that civil protection forces are planning an exercise this morning at 10am on the Western Riva (Zapadna Obala) conveniently named “Zapadna Obala 2016”. Participating members of the Fire Department of the city of Split, the Port Authority of Split, the Croatian Mountain Rescue Service, Croatian Red Cross, the Department of Emergency Medicine SDŽ, DVD Kastel Gomilica Ltd. for Environmental Protection of the Sea, the Civil Defense SDŽ and Civil protection of Split, will be conducting various exercises mostly involving evacuations of people from burning buildings and boats. At 2pm there will be an event involving a firefighter competition called “Fire Combat 2016.” These drills should last through midday.
