Last night on May 25th, Charlie’s Bar opened their psychedelic extension, Charlie’s 2, located directly across the alleyway from their main bar and hostel.
The idea of Charlie’s 2 developed after last summer 2015, one of the busiest the city of Split has seen. Charlie’s Bar, already being a staple for the “young and the party”, is typically filled to the rafters. Bar patrons are usually swarming into a sea of more bar patrons, desperately reaching for their fountain of youth: the bar (for alcohol).
With a desperate need for more space, owners Korana and Maria hit the jackpot when the cozy shop across the alleyway from Charlie’s suddenly became vacant. Formally an agro shop, the walls were purple, colorfully painted with sea animals like octopus and jellyfish, and hallucinating images such as siamese cats, mushroom eating half drawn faces, and mermaid like people swimming through this perfectly crafted paradise.
Was this too crazy for a bar? No, this was perfect, and this was Charlie’s 2. As soon as the summer season came to a close, Korana and Maria began work, and Charlie’s 2 came to fruition.
The opening party started at 20h, with delightfully decorated trays of appetizers from Split’s very own Zinfandel, meticulously placed around the room for the bevy of guests to quickly devour. Bottles of champagne and Johnny Walker were open for guests, and the music was blasting to a tempo of party perfection. Hopping about from Charlie’s Bar to Charlie’s 2, the alleyway was packed like a can of sardines, patrons shuffling from bar to bar, happier than ever to have Charlie’s exist.
We are so thrilled to finally introduce you to the newest member of Split’s bar society – Charlie’s 2 is open for business!
