They do what they love and are not afraid of success.
There are many foreigners in Zagreb, and they come here for the same initial reason. There is no pressure of the kind that exists in modern Western societies. Judging by what its own residents often think about their hometown and bearing in mind the fact that many of them are leaving Croatia’s capital, one would question the choice of people who come to Zagreb from other countries, reports Večernji List on June 23, 2016.
Foreigners living here are not all of the same profile, and they are not only representatives of global companies or diplomats. They are also not members of the same nation. Nor are they connected to Croatia through the common language or tradition. The number of those (with whom Croatians share same cultural traits) is actually decreasing. Foreigners come to escape the pressures of the Western society and because the city is much safer than its Western counterparts. So, it is, after all, productive when the local media gets loud every time the crime rate goes up a bit.
The impression one gets after spending some time with foreigners living in Zagreb is that they handle their life here far better than the natives. They open language schools, pubs, and recently they even opened a brewery. Each of them is doing something they came up with on their own after noticing that Zagreb is missing such a place or service. Therefore, it somehow seems that the residents of Zagreb who live in their own hometown are less capable. Is it really true that it is so difficult for them to fit in? It would seem so. There is something else the foreigners in Zagreb noted. Croatians do not like success.
People who come from other cultures are not familiar with such a mindset and are not afraid of success, which could lead to everyone else trying to find fault in their accomplishments, just to justify their own failures. These guys simply come and work. They do not look for a job through connections or in the civil service, and they are eager to secure a regular salary on their own. If it is possible to have some fun along the way – great. They usually have fun because they rarely do something they do not like. Their countries have long adopted a philosophy that financial success comes only as a result of doing something you love.
