Strong Croatian IT presence at CES 2016 in Las Vegas.
Zipato smart home platform, Live Good digital system for human body monitoring, and Streaming Solutions, a Croatian version of Google Glass which has developed its own video streaming camera Vyoocam, are three representatives of Croatian IT industry at the Consumer Electronics Show 2016 (CES) which opened in Las Vegas on Wednesday, reports Poslovni.hr on January 7, 2016.
More than 3,600 companies from 150 countries exhibit their products at CES, which is the largest consumer electronics fair in the world. Among them are the giants of the IT industry like Google, Amazon and Microsoft, as well as five hundred start-ups from 29 countries.
The most well-known representative of the Croatian IT industry at CES 2016 is Zipato. The company produces a platform and devices for smart home systems. It has developed a system based on Zipabox, a device through which you can easily program all you smart appliances over the internet. In 2013, the company’s income grew five and half times, to 2.8 million kuna, with a net profit of 85,700 kuna. Zipato’s smart home platform is currently supported by 30 global brands. It is being used in 6,000 households in 60 countries, and is supported by 112,000 smart household appliances. The company was founded by Sebastian Popović, a former co-owner of one of new telecom operators Vodatel.
Technology Park Zagreb announced that one of their members, Live Good, is also present at this year’s CES. Company director Anita Bušić will present their innovative product called BodyRecog, which is a system to assess the health status based on body type and body shape. The system is unique in that the digital measurements of the human body are made with a smartphone camera.
Streaming Solutions, the third Croatian representative at CES, came there as a winner of a competition. They were the best among 15 teams at the Idea Knockout 2015, a competition organized by the monthly magazine BUG. Streaming Solutions have won the award thanks to a new approach to streaming. The company has developed Vyoocam, a device similar to Google Glass which allows live transmissions for up to 60 minutes, from the perspective of the person doing the transmission.
In previous years, CES featured Croatian start-ups Teddy the Guardian, Bellabeat, MashMe, and even the former Croatian Economy Minister Goranko Fižulić who tried his luck with his start-up, an online shop for 3D printing called LikeFigures.
