On the very day his divorce was announced, Šibenik has approved plans to build 2 billion euros worth tourist facilities, and Brad Pitt could be an investor.
At a meeting on Tuesday, the Šibenik Town Council adopted amendments to the Šibenik Zoning Plan, which was originally adopted 28 years ago. The amendments focused on Zablaće peninsula, a location which was recently visited by Brad Pitt and where large-scale tourist facilities will now be built, reports Jutarnji List on September 21, 2016.
“At the Zablaće peninsula, in the area near Male Soline, these amendments allows for the construction of hotel and apartment complex and villas with all supporting infrastructure. The area includes about 50 hectares of land and is expected to be turned into a new ‘tourist city’. I want to note that this area has even before been reserved for construction and that in the last ten years we have had foreign investors, mostly from a Swiss investment fund, buying substantial parts of the land from owners”, said Madlena Roša Dulibić, head of the Planning Department in Šibenik.
During Brad Pitt’s recent visit to Zablaće, accompanied by representatives of a Swiss holding company, Roša Dubilić said it was quite certain that the famous actor was very much interested to become a co-investor, together with his business partners from Switzerland, in the construction of the “tourist city”, whose value is estimated at nearly two billion euros.
The amendments to the planning documents also allow for a golf course to be built at Velike Soline, which is next to Male Soline. According to Ljiljana Doležal from the Urbing company, one of the authors of the planning document, parts of the project will be implemented in two phases. “Project Male Soline can start immediately, while other parts will follow later, after they see how the implementation of the first project is proceeding. The golf course at Velike Soline will be accompanied by a park with protected archaeological heritage, because old salt works used to be on the site, and we also expected to build a promenade”, said Doležal.
“Potential investors are always looking for something new, so the area of Zablaće peninsula is interesting because it offers a different concept of development. This is not just the development of apartments or tourist accommodation facilities. It is a complex that will offer permanent accommodation units, as well as units for occasional guests. This is a project with public and social purpose, with cultural and religious facilities as well. Basically, it is a city within a city. Investors have recognized this as something that will give them a different kind of offer. Of course, profit is an important element for investors, and considering that this is a relatively large area of 50 hectares, Zablaće will become very attractive”, said Doležal.
