A new and completely legal taxi service will soon take the streets of Split – could Go Green Taxi be in operation early next year?
On city streets of Split from the beginning of next year will, in fact, drive the new “Go Green Taxi”, who are thus far only waiting on the official decision of the state administration, reports Dalmatinski Portal on December 27, 2016.
The special features of the new Split taxi service were discussed at the Association for the promotion and improvement of the quality of work and modernization of the taxi service “Go Green Taxi Split”. The presentation was held by Go Green Taxi president Jurica Prgomet, vice president and member of the supervisory board Josko Dominović, and secretary and member of the board Miljenko Marinic.

The new hybrid white cars with green panels will be mainly Toyota. The ride will kick off with 6 kuna to start and will be 6 kuna per kilometer. Luggage will be free, and drivers will boast cleanliness and orderliness, with uniforms for both summer and winter that will include a white shirt and dark tie with a green logo.
In addition, the board stresses, the call center will have a system application that allows transparency in every moment for every car, which favors both the drivers and citizens. For example, a driver cannot refuse to drive a certain distance, and after driving a customer to their location, drivers will remain close to their last relation. This way, after each call, drivers will see who is closest to the new customer, which reduces the cost of cab drivers and passengers with quicker service.
“Everything that has happened around the stories related to Split taxi drivers has prompted us to organize and speak up for the competition, and make changes that are good for everyone. We work according to European principles, and each member must adhere to the statutes and they will be rigorous. We want to work together to try to improve taxi services, and for it to be good for everyone,” says Prgomet.
Dominović states that in order for a taxi revolution to work, rides must be available to everyone, which is their ultimate goal. “No one can say that in Split there are good, clean and inexpensive taxis. We create a beautiful story for the benefit of everyone from the city to tourist workers and caterers, to hoteliers, tourists, citizens and ourselves,” said Marinic.
Just as importantly, the new taxi service will operate 0-24 hours and open plenty of new jobs.
When asked about the emergence of Cammeo and Uber on the streets of Split, “Go Green Taxi” stated: “We can say that it is true that they violated a number of laws in our city, for example, driving in the ‘yellow zones’ (Zagrebacka street, Sinjska to HNK…), where they are not allowed. But, on this occasion, we invite Cammeo drivers who have lost their jobs, as well as other colleagues, to contact us.”
Prgomet once again emphasized that the price of ‘6 kuna to start – 6 kuna per kilometer’ is valid for residents of Split for the whole year, which will be regulated by a loyalty card.
Finally, the citizens of Split, upon the opening of “Go Green Taxi”, will receive two days of free rides.
