Salvador Dali Comes To Dubrovnik Again!

Lauren Simmonds

Salvador Dali is one of the worlds most well known artists, his creative and sometimes disturbing pieces have fascinated crowds for generations. Why not pay his exhibition a visit this April in Dubrovnik?

At 20:00 on Tuesday the 11th of April 2017, Salvador Dali’s incredible ”Bozanstveni svjetovi” exhibition will be on display at the monastery of Saint Claire (Zenski samostan Svete Klare). The large collection features more than 240 famous prints by the unique and irreplaceable Salvador Dali.

Dali, born Salvador Domingo Felipe Jacinto Dali i Domenech (try saying that after a drink) was born in Figueres, Catalonia in 1904. A striking and naturally gifted artist, he is best known for his unusual and often utterly bizarre surrealist works, and of course, that moustache. An intelligent, highly functioning and deeply imaginative person, Dali was known for his eccentric personality, lack of sexual inhibition and extremely odd behaviour. Owning a pet giant ant eater and driving around central Paris in a car filled will cauliflowers are just the tip of the ice berg. His odd mannerisms and attention-grabbing public stunts often earned him more attention than his actual work when he was alive.

Dali’s latest exhibition to hit Dubrovnik will be opened by the Honorary Consul of Spain in Dubrovnik, Jelka Tepsic, art historian Ivan Vidjen and David Razjancev, the owner of both this collection and the Slovenian gallery ”Deva Puri”

This exhibition of Dali’s eye-opening and often mind-boggling work has seen over 200,000 visitors in the various cities it has been displayed in.
