In the first round of Roland Garros, Karlović beat the player who was born in the same year in which he turned pro.
The second Grand Slam tournament of the year started on May 28. 2017. Two veteran Croatian players hit the courts of Roland Garros, Ivo Karlović, and Mirjana Lučić-Baroni.

Mirjana Lučić-Baroni was the next to hit the Court 3 in Paris, but she was not as successful as her compatriot. She was defeated by Cagla Buyukakcay, the Turkish player ranked 155 on the WTA Ranking List.
