Croatia to Introduce Direct Flights to USA in 2018?

The Croatian Ministry of Tourism is in search for a carrier willing to launch flights between the country and the United States, EX-YU Aviation reports.

The Ministry is considering carriers from both the US and Europe, and the government plans to begin services next summer, upgrading to year-round flights in 2019.
The article states that recently, Tourism Minister, Gari Cappelli, said, “We are in serious negotiations over the introduction of year-long flights from Croatia to New York, most likely from Zagreb and Dubrovnik, even from Split. All signs point towards the introduction of seasonal flights during the high season in 2018 and year-long services in 2019”.

The last time a direct connection existed between the two countries was in the summer of 1991 (four weekly roundtrips, New York to Zagreb), and prior to that, JAT Yugoslav Airlines connected Zagreb to New York, Chicago and Los Angeles.
