A special event will take place in Zagreb for the first time this Saturday – the world-renowned Viennese Ball.
This prestigious event brings a touch of true glamour to Croatia and it has a humanitarian element as well – part of the proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to the Zagreb Association of Blind Persons.
The Ball is organised on the occasion of 100th anniversary of Lions Club International, and the friendship between the Republics of Austria and Croatia, under the high auspices of the President of Republic of Croatia Ms. Kolinda Grabar Kitarović, and it will be held in one of the most beautiful buildings in the city – Croatian State Archives at Marulićev Trg.
The International Association of Lions Clubs is the largest humanitarian organisation in the world, with more than 1,400,000 members in more than 46,000 clubs in 210 countries and geographic regions. The organisation was founded by Melvin Jones, a businessman from Chicago, and the first Lions Club in Croatia was founded in Dubrovnik in 1990. The ball will be opened by Wiener Tanzkomitee dance school, led by Michael Badin, and Original Wiener Strauss Capelle Orchestra. Then, the guests will have a chance to dance to the sounds of the performance of soprano Antonella Malis, and, later, they will be able to try a piece of Sachertorte and sparkling and Viennese wine.
The dress code is black tie: for ladies, a ball gown or a long evening gown, and for gentlemen, a tuxedo or a dark suit, and the number of tickets is limited to 200.
