CRANE expect more than 1,500 participants with over 400 investors and 100 start-ups from around the globe
Croatian Business Angels Network (CRANE) will host the biggest European business angels conference – EBAN Winter University 2016. This decision was announced on February 23, 2016, during the World Business Angels Investment Forum which is currently taking place in Istanbul, Turkey. The conference is held once a year and the expected number of participants is at over 1,500, with more than 400 investors and 100 start-ups from around the globe.
“I am extremely proud that our bid was considered to be the best against countries such as Norway, Switzerland and Ukraine and to have the opportunity to bring this prestigious event to Croatia. We lobbied intensively for the past three months and our effort paid off. This is the crown of my first year as the president of CRANE. I would like to thank the President, Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović, and the mayor of Zagreb, Milan Bandić, for their prompt support. As soon as we get back from Turkey we are starting with the preparations!,” stated Davorin Štetner, President of CRANE, who is participating in the World Business Angels Investment Forum along with the members of CRANE’s Board of Directors Saša Cvetojević and Damir Mujić.
EBAN Winter University was started by the European Business Angels Network (EBAN) which represents the cooperation of investors focused on start-ups and early-stage companies, and has over 250 business angels organizations and more than 20,000 investors. This year, 15th edition of the conference, will be held in Croatia, gathering the best experts in the investment area and offering information and insight into new trends in the world start-up scene. In the last two years, the conference was held in Copenhagen and Helsinki, with over 1000 participants, 350 business angels and over 50 start-ups from 60 countries around the world.
“I believe that Croatian Business Angels Network (CRANE) will prove worthy of our trust. We are looking forward to visiting Zagreb and I guarantee that this event will distinguish Croatia as one of the most desirable destinations for start-ups in Europe. CRANE is one of our oldest members and I am happy with the range of activities they have undertaken lately! See you in Zagreb!,” added Candace Johnson, President of EBAN.
With a conference as big and important as the EBAN Winter University, Croatia will warrant great attention from international business angels and Croatian start-ups will be able to present their ideas on a global scale. Apart from closing the first level of investments, business angels are great mentors with concrete knowledge who can accelerate the success of start-ups with their experience. In Europe, business angels invest over 7.5 billion euros per year, and that amount rises each year.
The conference is held once a year and the expected number of participants is at over 1,500, more than 400 investors and 100 start-ups from around the world.
