The Tourism Minister announces that this year, tourism could bring a much higher growth than the European average, expected to be 3 to 4% higher than last year.
Gari Cappelli stated that from the beginning of the year to the middle of June, tourism has continued to surpass old figures and break records, reports Poslovni Dnevnik on the 25th of June, 2017. The rising numbers from other European nations like the United Kingdom, Germany and France and those from more distant countries like the United States, Korea and Australia are a topic we have otherwise reported on quite frequently. Arrivals have increased by 22% and overnight stays by 24% when compared to the same period last year, which suggests that this year will be a record year.
The Tourism Minister noted that this data encouraged and reaffirmed the fact that this year, tourism could bring a much higher growth of traffic than the European average, which, as previously mentioned, is expected to be around 3 to 4% higher than 2016.
“We are ready to receive all visitors to Croatia and wish for them to have a pleasant and safe stay,” Cappelli said. As far as border crossings are concerned, the strict controls of passengers at border crossings have been temporarily suspended and targeted controls are now in effect.
