It looks like Luka Modrić could soon lose his title as the highest-paid Croatian athlete.
According to US media, Croatian basketball player Bojan Bogdanović could soon become the best-paid Croat in sports, coming in hot with a hefty price tag to boot, reports Index.hr on July 5, 2017.
The 28-year-old “Babo” arrived in Washington from the Brooklyn Nets earlier this year. He currently earns about 3.7 million USD a year playing for the Washington Wizzards and has a contract with the team for another year. We will soon know where he will continue his career, and we are aware that it will also be for a pretty penny.

US journalist Chris Miller claims that Bogdanović has set two key conditions for clubs interested in the Croat – a contract for three or four years and a salary of 16 million USD per year. In addition to the financial details, Bogdanović is looking for a team where he will have significant playing time.
League source tells me Bojan Bogdanovic is looking for a 3-4 year deal worth about 16 million per year. #DCFamily

The Wizzards would reportedly like to keep the Croatian basketball player but are most likely unwilling to pay more than 10 million USD. Among the interested teams are the Sacramento Kings, Atlanta Hawks, and Denver Nuggets.
If his financial fantasies come true, Bogdanović’s salary will surpass the current highest-paid Croatian athlete Luka Modrić, who earns more than 7 million EUR a year at Real Madrid.
The highest-paid athlete in the history of Croatian sports, however, is Chicago Bulls star Toni Kukoč who earned about 26 million USD in his first six years in the NBA.
