While Hvar Threatens with Fines for Indecent Behaviour, Dubrovnik Imposes them Swiftly

How to deal with unwanted scenes in tourism

While media focus on the attempts of new Hvar Town Mayor Riki Novak to contain indecent and rowdy behaviour in that popular destination through posters, another popular touristic destination imposes provisioned fines swiftly.

Dubrovnik residents came across an Australian citizen aged 32, sleeping on a bench in Dubrovnik wearing only a shirt. A call to the police brought swift reaction, the man was booked and charged with indecent behaviour and awaits a ruling by a judge on the amount of his fine. A police source said he was out drinking and does not remember arriving to the bench.

So while Hvar invested a lot of effort into communicating the potential severity of fines for this type of behaviour, Dubrovnik currently leads by example.
