The Croatian water polo team has advanced to the finals of the FINA World Championships after celebrating a win against Serbia!
Croatia is in the finals! The Croatian Barracudas celebrated a 12:11 win against Serbia in the semifinals tonight in Budapest, reports Gol.hr on July 27, 2017.
Croatia’s Sukno and Joković each scored three goals, Bušlje, Lončar and Vukičević scored two, and Croatian goalkeeper Marko Bijač was a wonder in the goal, defending a total of nine shots throughout the game. Bijač was able to stop most of the Serbian strikers, apart from Prlainović who scored six goals.
After two serious defeats, one in the finals of the 2015 World Aquatics Championship in Kazan and one in the finals of the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro last year, Croatia has finally claimed victory over the current World Champions, European Champions and Olympic winners.
This is the first time Croatia has beaten Serbia in seven years. The last time Croatia tasted victory over Serbia was in 2010 at the European Championship in Zagreb. Since then, Croatia has suffered five defeats and one draw against Serbia.
