Total Croatia News

Croatian skiing has a bright future even after the Kostelić family

Great news came from the FIS Junior World Ski Championship taking place in Sochi, Russia. Croatian youngster Istok Rodeš Won a gold medal in the slalom race on March 5, 2016, the first ever for Croatian Junior Ski Team. His team-mate, Elijas Kolega won a bronze medal in the same race, completing a historical day for Croatian skiing.

They were placed in top two positions after the first leg of the race, and while Rodeš defended his lead in the second leg, Kolega finished third, with German youngster Frederik Norys clinching the silver.

Taking into account the that there are just a few ski tracks in the country, this success is to be respected, as they were up against the best young skiers from traditionally strong national teams such as Austria, Germany and Canada.

Congratulations are in order, and Croatian ski fans can expect more great skiing news even after Ivica Kostelic’s retirement.
