May the 3rd, 2026 – Trump’s Minister Christ Wright has been chastised and called frivolous and ridiculous for claiming “Iran could bomb Dubrovnik”. Analysts have stated the following very clearly: “They do not want to, nor would they”, condemning the American politician for trying to cause mindless panic over nothing.
As Index vijesti/news writes, military analyst Goran Redžepović was a recent guest on N1’s live studio, where he commented on the frankly ridiculous statements made by US Secretary of Energy, who made the claim while in Dubrovnik that “Iran already has missiles that can hit Croatia”.
trump’s minister tries to spread pointless panic in dubrovnik but is quickly shut down
US Secretary of Energy Chris Wright participated in the Three Seas Initiative summit in Dubrovnik, and when reviewing the geopolitical situation and the conflict in the Middle East, he claimed that Iran “already has missiles that can hit Dubrovnik today”.
“Iran is weeks away from the level of uranium needed to create a nuclear bomb. Imagine that nation with ten nuclear warheads. They already have missiles that could hit Dubrovnik today. How would you feel in this country knowing that the world’s largest sponsor of terrorism possesses nuclear weapons that can deliver them directly to your city?” Wright asked in an attempt to arouse a sense of panic among those present.
“We’d appreciate more support and a stronger backroom in what we’re doing. We aren’t doing this just for America, we’re doing this for the whole world. We will get through this. Iran will not get a nuclear weapon. Things will return to normal in the Middle East and we will be in a much better situation. These are just obstacles on the way,” he added.
military analyst: chris wright made ridiculous and frivolous statements
Analyst Goran Redžepović believes that Trump’s minister’s statement is rude, frivolous and ridiculous. If we’re talking about Iran and Croatia, says Redžepović, then it should all be put in a realistic context.
“First of all, let me say the following about Iran’s nuclear weapons – normally, the development of nuclear weapons in Iran should not be supported and it should be prevented. However, this shouldn’t be done in the way that Donald Trump is doing it, but that is another issue. As for Dubrovnik itself and Croatia, you have two aspects. Do the Iranians have the technology that is operational to have the range to target, say, Dubrovnik? What has been confirmed and what can be said with certainty now, they have missiles with a range of about 2,000 kilometres. These are the latest generation of Sejil 1 and 2 rockets, which are multi-stage rockets with solid fuel, which theoretically can reach Crete, Greece, Albania and so on, but no, they cannot reach Dubrovnik,” emphasised Redžepović.
why did the americans send their ship to split?
“The very fact that the Americans sent their USS Gerald R. Ford aircraft carrier to Croatia for repairs, having transferred it from Crete to Split, means that they put it there outside of the tactical radius of Iranian ballistic missiles.
When such a carrier is anchored and not moving, it becomes a stationary target and in that case it can theoretically be targeted. So, the very fact that the Americans transferred it to Croatian waters and it stayed there for several days indicates that this is already a safe distance from Iran. There has been word spreading that the Iranians have missiles with a range of 3,000, 4,000 kilometres. That remains unconfirmed for now and the British intelligence service has stated that no, they do not possess such capabilities,” the analyst explained.
why would iran even target croatia? in short, it wouldn’t.
Redžepović went on to explain how Iran has never had, and still does not have any reason or desire to target Croatia. Croatia and Iran have never had any kind of strained relations that would lead to any such action.
“Iran is building its nuclear and missile arsenal, exclusively in relation to Israel. So, Israel is the reference point for their missiles to reach certain installations in Israel. In that case, why does it have a range of 2,000 km? That’s actually very simple. The further it pulls missiles to the east of Iran, the less exposed these missile positions are to possible attacks from Israel, and therefore they can launch these missiles from that distance with greater certainty. In that sense, it can be said that there is absolutely no indication or reason, nor technical possibility, that they could bomb or send any sort of missile to Dubrovnik,” concluded Redžepović.
