The ecological project “Red Cross in a Blue Frame” continued on Hvar last weekend.
We love bringing you good news, especially when it has to do with helping the environment.
That said, last weekend, from September 30 – October 1, 2017, the Hvar Town harbor was cleaned with the help of the Viking Diving Center, the Red Cross Society of Hvar Town, the Nautical Center and the Tourist Board of the City of Hvar, announces Hvar.hr on October 3, 2017.
The dedicated volunteers and divers collected tons of various waste, including items containing mostly glass, metal, plastic and rope.
Many eco-activists and the staff of the Red Cross also participated in the action by serving snacks that ranged from sandwiches and doughnuts to water and coffee. Fortunately, no particular intervention of first aid was needed, apart from one of the divers suffering from a little stomach discomfort.
Due to the heavy maritime traffic that occurs in this part of the island of Hvar, it is, unfortunately, very ecologically polluted. The good news, however, is that it has therefore been concluded that more extensive and frequent sewage cleaning actions will be organized.
Such ecological actions seek to raise public awareness of the needs of environmental protection, i.e. the underwater and coastal areas, to address the need for responsible behavior towards the sea and the coast.
