When you can’t quit the meat, at least you have Chops Grill

Happy Sunday to you, the people of Split! While today should be considered a day of rest, relaxation, and some serious “Netflix and chill”, today, our mission is to convince you of transforming your lazy Sunday habits into one that contains meat, and a lot of it.

The perfect day to “veg”, as some might say (without any vegetables involved but yourself on the couch), we’d hope that this Sunday you might make your way to Chops Grill for a culinary adventure through meat lover’s paradise.

We know we’ve written about Chops time and time again, but that’s because it really is THAT good. And if you’re a fan of the best quality cuts you can find in Croatia, there is no better place to enjoy a filling Sunday meal than at Chops Grill.

Their menu starts off strong, allowing you to choose from some of the tastiest appetizers in Dalmatia. Care for some bruschetta dressed up with shrimp or salmon? How about a classic beef carpaccio? Or (wait for it) smoked duck breasts?

If you’re feeling like something lighter, a hearty and homemade tomato soup or the salad a la chops (think rocket, thinly sliced beef, and a mustard dressing) may tickle your taste buds to start.

Where Chops succeeds, and the area where they are known to be best is their meat selection. Now, it is important to note that we are not quick to say anyone is the best (my goodness, this city has so many gems), but when it comes to the most exquisite meats around, there is nothing quite like Chops.

For instance, Chops is one of the only restaurants in Croatia offer, quite frankly, the finest beef in the world – the Japanese Wagyu beef tenderloin. If I hadn’t tried this myself and swore at the first bite that this was one of the most immaculate things I’ve ever tasted, I wouldn’t be sharing this with you today.

“A 100% full-blood Japanese Black Cattle, raised and fed in Gunma Prefecture in Japan. The farmers take care of a limited number of cows, so each of them can be given special attention, from a fixed diet to relaxation. Each cow has a passport with details about how it was raised. This prime meat is marbled and therefore soft that melts in your mouth and with exceptional taste.”

If you’re not already sold, we have every right to think you’re not worthy.

Next up on our meat lover’s adventure? The Kettyle Tomahawk steak (on the bone, of course) for two. If you’re looking for something dry aged for 28 days and something even better to share with your lover, this is the clear winner. And such a winner that it received two stars from the international Great Taste Awards in 2013. Spruced up with either barbecue sauce or chimichurri, this delicacy comes with a seasonal salad and two side dishes of your choice.

Last but not least for you, our beloved carnivores, is the Tyson Fresh prime beef tenderloin. This American superstar comes from corn-fed cows and is the highest USDA beef grade available. If you’re looking for something tender, juicy, and full of flavor, well, this cut comes second to none.

While there are plenty of beautiful options for you to enjoy at Chops, including an Argentinian ribeye, Blank Angus ribeye or prime rib, French lamb chops, and T-bone steak, there is also a fantastic selection of seafood entrees (yes, we said it), if you feel like switching teams.

One thing we do know for sure, however, is that there is no place like Chops if you’re looking for the best of the best that beef has to offer.

It’s Sunday and we know your couch seems inviting, but we promise a meal at Chops this evening will give you the same effect – if not more.
