The Advent program in Split changes its concept this year with a few changes that could make a big difference.
Slobodna Dalmacija reports on November 2, 2017, that the number of “Christmas cottages” on the Riva will be reduced, leaving only those focused on the stage in the middle of the waterfront promenade. While Pjaca will remain the same, the holiday zone at Prokurative will disappear for a new location at Đardin (Strossmayer Park).
The park alone, Slobodna states, will be decorated and modeled according to the award-winning Advent in Zagreb – and specifically Zrinjevac park. This area will also offer a different program – one more suited for children and fans of classical music. If any of you have attended Advent in Split at all in the past, you won’t be surprised to find that this concept is entirely contrary to the traditions of the last few years.
In addition to the new Advent news, the press conference by the Tourist Board of Split also confirmed the 2018 New Year’s Eve program on the Riva. Beginning at 21:00, the waterfront stage will host local band Mjesni Odbor, and from 23:00 to 01:00, the people of Split will be entertained by Croatian favorite Jole. Gustafi will close the evening with a set until 03:00.
The organizer of this year’s event is Damir Karaman.
