The famous Sinj Alka features in Sardinia!
On Friday, February 9th, the delegation of the Alkar Society will travel to Italy, and more precisely to Oristano, Sardinia, where they will participate in the knightly manifestation Sartiglia.
On Sunday, February 11th and Tuesday, February 13th, the festive ceremony will include participants Dusan Ivandić, Tino Radanović and Marko Vrca, the Alkar boys Dražan Šušnjar and Petar Delić, and drummer Stipe Botica. The ceremony will be attended by the president and vice chairman of the VAD Steering Board, Stipe Jukić and Dinko Bošnjak, members of the Assembly, Don Josip Dukić and cinematographer Petar Malbas.
This knight game has been held for over 500 years in Oristano, Sardinia. The multi-year collaboration between the Sinj and Sartiglia was strengthened in 2014 when they signed a partnership. After that, the knights from Sardinia presented themselves in Sinj during the Alka ceremonies, together with numerous historical units from Croatia. Along with the members of the VAD in Sardinia, representatives of the “Race to the Ring” in Barban will also participate.
The parades in Sardinia feature many Sardinian costumes, Queen Eleonor (1404), numerous drummers and trumpets, and 120 horsemen.
