Investors Sven and David Drahotuski have a new vision of tourism and believe it’s possible to succeed in Osijek
Having spent five years at the helm of ‘Kuna’, a successful tourist agency which offers trips to about 50 European cities, the agency’s owner Sven Drahotuski decided to venture into a new business project. Together with his brother David, he opened new apartment accommodation facilities in the centre of Osijek, reports Glas Slavonije on February 15, 2018.
Apartments and rooms ‘Centrum’ in Ružina street offer 12 accommodation units with a total capacity of 40 beds, along with parking spaces available to guests. The new facilities are the only one of their kind in Osijek, having a 4-star category and the ability to host an entire bus of tourists. Brothers Drahotuski said they already have experience in the private accommodation business in the city centre, but so far, they’ve been offering individual apartments at different locations. ‘Centrum’ is their first accommodation object which is entirely new and purposely built.
Sven Drahotuski decided to buy property in Ružina street and build a two-story apartment building because he had a new vision of tourism, he said. “The majority of tourist agencies and avid travellers have already covered all European destinations, leading to a certain saturation point where the classic offer is considered. It’s the new, undiscovered destinations which are now being sought after. Osijek, together with Slavonija and Baranja as a whole, now stands as undiscovered treasure on the travelholics’ map, and there’s considerable interest in offering this location to those who are searching for new destinations. Our agency will now head in this exact direction”, said Drahotuski, adding they are offering a well-rounded tourist service and animation programme as part of the accommodation service.
‘Centrum’ apartments were built with materials acquired in Zagreb, but furnished with items manufactured in Osijek. While the accommodation will offer a 4-star experience, the prices will equal those of a 3-star hotel, with a breakfast service available to guests in the nearby Hotel Waldinger.
These young entrepreneurs want to lead by example, showing there’s no need to leave Osijek, where it’s possible to succeed if one has a good enough idea. “For the same amount of money, we could have built five apartments on the coast which would certainly be fully booked three months in a row. However, you can work 12 months a year in Osijek, make an equal revenue and remain living here, which is the most important thing after all”, said Sven and David Drahotuski.
