ZAGREB, Feb 24, 2018 – Consumer prices in Croatia in January 2018 dropped by 0.2% on the month, whereas compared to January 2017, prices were 1.1% higher, the latest figures released by the State Bureau of Statistics indicate.
The January 2018 data shows that the inflation rate is continuing to slow down on the annual level, considering that consumer prices in December last year increased by 1.2% on the year, whereas in September, October and November 2017, prices increased at a rate of 1.4% on the year.
The biggest increase in prices in January 2018 compared to January 2017 were in hotels and restaurants, with an increase of 4.7%, followed by the cost of housing and utilities (+2.6%).
On the other hand, the largest decreases were recorded in the price of vegetables (-12%) and in communications (-0.9%). The price of clothing and footwear remained stable.
On the month, prices for goods and services in personal consumption fell by 0.2% in January 2018. The largest decreases were observed in the price of clothing and footwear (-13.1%), followed by education (-0.1%) while the price of health, communications, recreation activities and culture remained stable.
