Government to Donate State-Owned Property to Split

ZAGREB, May 2, 2018 – The Croatian government, that will convene in Split on Friday, is going to transfer the ownership of 1,660 garages and a large part of the Dračevac army barracks to the local town authorities and the donated premises will be used by traffic police, the Split Catholic Archdiocese and some of them will be transformed into a technology park, the State Assets Management Minister Goran Marić said on Wednesday.

Marić told the national radio (HR) that although they were state-owned, those 1,660 garages were not run by the state authorities and were of no use for the government.

They are situated at four locations in Split and have been used illegally, which is “unacceptable,” the minister said.

Marić said that the donated properties were worth 100 million kuna.

The part of the Dračevac military barracks is going to be transformed into a technology park.

In 2017, the activation of state-owned real estate enabled the pouring of 400 million kuna in the state budget, according to Marić.
