The Alka Museum in Sinj is recognized once again!
The Sinj Alka Museum is a winner of the EU Cultural Heritage award – the Europa Nostra Award for 2018, awarded by the European Commission and Europa Nostra, the leading European heritage network, reports Ferata.hr on May 15, 2018.
The award saw 29 winners from 17 countries, who were rewarded for their exceptional achievements in conservation, research, devotional work and education, training and raising the level of awareness. This year’s prizes, as a unique contribution to the 2018 European Year of Cultural Heritage, emphasized, in particular, the added value of the EU’s chosen achievements in the field of heritage.

The independent jury reviewed more than 160 applications submitted by individuals and organizations from 31 countries across Europe, and citizens from all over Europe and the rest of the world could vote online for the people’s choice award and mobilize support for the award-winning achievements of their country or other EU countries.
The winners will be honored at the awards ceremony on June 22nd in Berlin during the first European summit on cultural heritage, hosted by European Commissioner Tibor Navracsics and maestro Plácido Domingo. Seven winners of the grand prize (who will each receive 10,000 euro) and the winner of the public award will be announced during the solemn ceremony, which will be presented by the President of the Federal Republic of Germany, Dr. Frank-Walter Steinmeier, as the sponsor of the European Year of Cultural Heritage in Germany.

The Sinj Alka Museum is the winner of the category ‘Education, Training and Raising the Level of Awareness’ in which there were seven other winners from Belgium, Finland, France, Italy, the Netherlands and Slovenia. The Sinj museum is the only winner of this year’s Europa Nostra Award from Croatia.
