3rd Spring Recreational Bicycle Race in Dugopolje A Success!

On Saturday, May 19th, the third recreational spring bicycle race was held, organized by the Tourist Board of the Dugopolje Municipality and the Timun Bicycle Club of Split. 

Recreational cycling races, as well the organized road cycling races over the years, are only part of the story of cycling tourism development in this part of Inland Dalmatia. Recently, the municipality of Dugopolje was supported by the Ministry of Tourism for the introduction of a public bicycle system, and we can expect two cycling retreats in the area this summer.

Around 120 cyclists of all age groups took advantage of a beautiful and sunny spring day and participated in the third edition of the Dugopolje Bicycle Race. The start and finish of the race was in the center of Dugopolje in front of the local fire brigade where a reception was held for participants and organizers after the race. The tour, which was about 20 km long, took to the main streets of Dugopolje and the economic zone Podi towards the settlement Koprivno. After a short break in Koprivno, the cyclists traveled back to Dugopolje via the economic zone and took a light ride through the Dugopolje field.

To ensure that the bicycle race was secured in the best possible way, police officers and members of the local Dugopolje DVD monitored the cycling track – and were even great hosts of this sporting event, to boot. The bicycle race was supported, among others, by Perica Bosančić, Dugopolje Municipality Chief, Marijana Botić Rogošić, Head of the Local Action Group Zagora, members of the Bicycle Club Vlaja from Sinj and promising young Croatian cyclists Tomislav Pušić (BK Sokol Vinkovci) and Filip Markovina (BBK Orlov krug Vodice).
