Heineken has set up a solar power plant in Karlovac which will produce 395,000 kWh per year.
As Darko Bicak/Poslovni Dnevnik writes on the 29th of May, 2018, Heineken Croatia (formerly Karlovačka pivovara/brewery) presented its solar power plant yesterday as part of its brewery located in Karlovac.
On the roof of a green warehouse, which totalled 2.7 million euro as was invested last year, 1,380 solar panels have been set up, with their production capabilities estimated at approximately 395,000 kilowatts of electricity annually.
As has been pointed out from Karlovac, the same figure represents annual savings, as this will reduce the amount of energy taken from the public network (HEP).
“Although the electricity produced by solar panels will be consumed for brewing purposes, it’s an integrated solar power plant where any surplus of generated energy can then be delivered to the public network. In addition, the amount of electricity produced by solar panels will see the reduction of CO2 emissions from 118.5 tons per annum,” they state from Heineken.
It was explained that the project was completed in just two and a half months and was funded without state incentives. The panels were manufactured by Luxor Solar GmbH from Germany, while the procurement company Relatio ES Adria, from Varaždin, was engaged in procurement, installation and then technical execution.
Jurica Greguric, the director of the aforementioned Varaždin based company, used the occasion to emphasise that even though the panels themselves are of German production, 20 percent of the the power plant is made up of domestic components and that this investment is expected to be fully paid for after seven and a half years, at the current price of electricity. Otherwise, the new solar power plant occupies an area of 4,430 square metres.
