Huljaj is the eighth President of Hajduk over the last ten years, unknown in the world of football and has spent most of his career in the pharmaceutical industry.
Hajduk has finally appointed a new president of the Board today, as the election fell to Jasmin Huljaj(49), a manager who spent most of his career in the pharmaceutical industry, reports Goal.hr on July 4, 2018.
Huljaj is the epilogue of a two-and-a-half-month-long search, during which anyone interested could join the contest. Part of the candidates was suggested via a headhunter agency hired by Hajduk. Huljaj was nominated by the headhunter agency, fulfilling all of their strict criteria, which was followed by a conversation with the members of the Supervisory Board, who ultimately selected him as the best candidate among the four who entered the final round of the conversation.
The name Jasmin Huljaj is completely unfamiliar in the world of football, although, like many Split people, he trained with Hajduk as a child. Sports are still a recreational activity for the new president today, and he enjoys tennis, skiing, and scuba diving.
Huljaj finished high school in Split and received his Master of Pharmacy. During his career, he gained knowledge at international schools as well.
Under his guidance, JGL (Jadranski galenski laboratorij) in Rijeka achieved excellent results, and he has performed the duties of Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director for Business Development and Customer Relationship Management. He is a top-level manager who is well trained in the business world and his associates from JGL praised him as a great manager and associate.
“Jasmin is serious, worthy, honest, very comfortable and easy to work with, and he is particularly skilled in negotiating and concluding business. The company went through a variety of circumstances due to changes in the company’s management structure. Although they offered him to stay, he thanked us for the offer and went, which all his associates regretted,” said Huljaj’s longtime acquaintance and associate.
Huljaj is the eighth President of Hajduk over the past ten years. After completing the seven-year rule of Branko Grgić, Željko Jerkov, Mate Peroš, Joško Svaguša, Josip Grbić, Hrvoje Maleš, Marin Brbić, Marijana Bošnjak and Ivan Kos followed.
“I am very honored to assume the function of the President of Hajduk, which is one of the most responsible positions in Croatia. I am a child of Split, and I always worked at JGL. I decided I wanted new challenges and that is why I accepted this opportunity. I played in the youth category of the club and for me, it is an honor. I believe that I will deserve the trust of the fans,” Huljaj said at the press conference, adding:
“I was honored with the possibility of being president of Hajduk. I did not say anything to my wife, only for her to support me. Today, many of my acquaintances from my hometown of Split will surely be surprised by this information. But I will easily renew my old acquaintances and friendships.”

“I am always for dialogue. I believe that a lot of problems have been accumulated in the Hajduk-HNS relationship. We will definitely advocate for transparency and democracy. With regard to Hajduk’s goals, they will be based on the development of our youth system,” said the new president of the Split club who failed to keep emotions when recalling his time at Hajduk.
