The incredible Lado took to Istria.
On Friday the 6th of July, 2018, Pula hosted a concert by the world renowned National Folk Dance Ensemble Lado. There were over 50 artists performing traditional Croatian folk songs and dance in the city’s amphitheatre, which was the perfect setting. This was the first time that the Lado ensemble have performed in Pula since the counties independence and the concert, which was organised by the Meritum group, was another well organised, popular and successful event.
The Dance ensemble consisted of 37 dancers who also sang as they performed and were accompanied by a group of 15 musicians who played approximately 80 different traditional and classical instruments. They presented their new program “Ideju regruti” from the choreography of Ivan Ivančan.
Lado are often described as a travelling museum with all 52 performers dressed in a collection of traditional Croatian outfits and after each set, costumes were quickly changed. The choreography throughout the night was superb and is understandable to see how they have won so many national and International awards.
