124 Million Kuna for Modernisation of Croatian Plant Production

Lauren Simmonds

Good news for Croatia’s plant production as a considerable sum of money is poured into its much needed modernisation.

As Poslovni Dnevnik writes on the 30th of July, 2018, both farmers and representatives of the Agricultural Payments Agency signed 172 project financing contracts under measure 4.1.1 on Monday the 30th of July, in the very first such tender.

“The restructuring, modernisation and enhancement of the competitiveness of the agricultural economy” for the plant production sector will see very welcome help come in the form of 124 million kuna.

This money will, as has been pointed out, help farmers to finance the procurement of agricultural machinery, various equipment and warehouses for crops, raise new vineyards, produce industrial healing herbs and plants, even stretching as far over as to help with decorative flowers and ornamental plants.

The encouraging contracts were signed by farmers from all over the Republic of Croatia and the director of the Agriculture, Fisheries and Rural Development Agency, Matilda Copic, pointed out that the 172 signed contracts amounted to a more than impressive total of 255 million kuna, of which 124 million kuna has been financed from the Rural Development Program.

Deputy Prime Minister and Agriculture Minister Tomislav Tolušić stated that this is the very first tender for the plant production sector, the total value of which stands at an enormous 360 million kuna.

Tolušić made sure to stress that the aim is to sign for another 240 million kuna, hopefully in September, adding that those who fulfilled all of the required formal conditions received the money as they should have done.
