The European project “No regret”, through which the public transport company “Promet” will acquire 34 new buses, has finally announced the tender for the vehicle supplier.
This is precisely for procuring 20 articulated and 14 “solo” low-noise vehicles with a low level of carbon dioxide emissions from the propulsion system, reports Slobodna Dalmacija on August 24, 2018.
The total value of the project for purchasing new buses is 74 million kuna, which will be fully funded by the EU through the Operational Program “Competitiveness and Cohesion 2014-2020”. The public bid for a potential supplier was published on Thursday on the Promet website, and the bidding deadline is in 35 days or September 26th.
“If everything goes to plan with the bidding procedure, a contract with the supplier should be signed in November. Since the delivery period is nine months, we can expect new vehicles at the end of the 2019 summer,” said Tomislav Vojnović, Director of Promet.
Other good news from Promet is that the fleet of vehicles will be enhanced. According to the head of the company, the National Agency for the Financing of EU Projects gave a positive opinion about procuring 18 more buses, worth 30 million kuna, implemented through ITU mechanisms within the Urban Agglomeration Split, where 85 percent of the project is financed from Brussels – or roughly 25.5 million kuna.
“We expect that it will be evaluated by the City and the Ministry of Regional Development, so we estimate that the grant agreement could be signed by the end of this year, after which it would begin calling for tenders to purchase these vehicles,” said Vojnović.
This would therefore round off the story of purchasing 52 buses worth a total of 110 million kuna, of which up to 100 million kuna will be covered by European money. This would solve the key and chronic problem of the old company fleet which maintains 50 lines in the city, as well as from the Trogir to Omiš region, in Zagora and on Šolta.
The situation surrounding environmental pollution will also improve, and maintenance costs are planned. The new vehicles will enable increased quality of service to passengers, who complain about old vehicles and breakdowns of individual buses.
