Next year, Slavonia will host two major tourism events, including Days of Croatian Tourism.
Last night, awards for the best among the best in the Croatian tourism industry were presented at the Days of Croatian Tourism event held in Hvar. Closing the ceremony, Prime Minister Andrej Plenković officially confirmed that the Days of Croatian Tourism 2019 would be held in Slavonia, more precisely in Osijek.
Prime Minister Plenković congratulated the winners, thanked the hosts, businessmen and businesswomen, and especially all the tourism workers who have contributed to the best tourist season in the history of Croatia. “Once again, on behalf of the whole government and me personally, I would like to thank everyone. The results you have achieved are brilliant. I would like to thank you, as prime minister and as someone who loves the Croatian islands and the whole Croatian coast. At this moment, I am particularly pleased that the tourism minister has just told me that the Days of Croatian Tourism next year will take place in Slavonia. In that way, we will connect the whole of Croatia, as we like to say the ‘green Croatia’ and the ‘blue Croatia.’ I am particularly pleased that this initiative fits well with our Slavonia Project, a programme of regional development of precisely those counties which need our support. The Days of Croatian Tourism will next year take place in Osijek,” concluded the Prime Minister.
The next year will certainly be a great positive turning point for Slavonia since both the Days of the Croatian Association of Travel Agencies and the Days of Croatian Tourism will take place in Slavonia (Vinkovci, Osijek). Also, efforts are underway for Slavonia’s five counties to finally be grouped under one tourist brand – Slavonia.
Slavonia does not need assistance but does need strategic development. These tourism events will create a positive momentum which Slavonia, as a tourist brand and a tourist product, must use as much as it can.
