The Beautiful Biokovo Mountain

Total Croatia News

People in Jelsa on Hvar have a kind of special relationship with this mountain as it is directly visible from the town´s harbour. People often look up to Biokovo to predict weather as a coming bura is clearly visible by special signs on the sky (but, of course it takes a few years to get this special skill, so don´t ask me how they do it). It is also very nice to walk along the seaside in Jelsa on a sunny winter day and see the snow at the peaks of Biokovo, especially if you only need a t-shirt on that particular sunny day. So, this is how we see it. A distant guard. Always there.

But here is a great opportunity to get to know the mountain more closely. Thanks to the Imotski Svitnjak website and its editor Luka Kolovrat, the Director of the Imotski tourist board.

Biokovo is the largest and most interesting mountain of the Dinara mountain in Dalmatia, which has a remarkable landscape diversity, playfulness of karst forms, a richness of wildlife and an abundance of cultural and historical details. A fraction of the beauty of this 70-kilometer long mountain can be discovered in this photo gallery by Joško Vukosav published at the Imotski Svitnjak website.
