The 8th Sinj Village Fair was organized by the Tourist Board of Sinj with the support of the City of Sinj and Split-Dalmatia County.
The Sinj Village Fair was held over the weekend with more than 35 exhibitors participating across three days. Exhibitors included renowned producers of prosciutto, cheese, honey, soparnik, and indigenous old crafts such as folk costumes, pekas, copper, garden tools and other traditional handicrafts made from wood were on display.
The fair was opened by the Mayor of Sinj Kristina Križanac, and the welcoming speech was addressed by representative of Split-Dalmatia County Luka Brčić and the Director of the Tourist Board of Sinj Monika Vrgoč.
The entertainment part of the program saw performances by the Sinj Majorettes, followed by the Association for the Preservation of the Heritage of the Cetina region who performed a traditional rera, and HKUD Peruća from Hrvace whose members performed a dance from the Dalmatian Hinterland. The program ended with the opera “Ero s onoga svijeta” by Jakov Gotovac. The members of the Association for the Preservation of the Heritage of the Cetina region and HKUD Peruća from Hrvace remained faithful to the traditions of the region through the songs and dances of the Dalmatian Hinterland, which are on the list of the non-material cultural heritage of the Republic of Croatia!
The second evening of the fair hosted an educational lecture by the Association Biom and LAG Cetina Krajina. A presentation was held by Ivan Selinec on the importance of the revitalizing and restoring the pastures of the Cetina region. In the entertainment part of the evening, the audience was thrilled by the performance of Ljuta Kuća.
For the third evening of the fair, which was held as part of the Festival of Hunting and Folklore, guests had the opportunity to enjoy the performances of Kumpanija from Korčula, KUD from Novigrad, KUD Glavice, mandolin composition Osinium and the Association for the Preservation of the Heritage of Cetina region.
The novelty of this year’s fair was the presentation of the gastronomic and enological offer of Cetina region which offered many indispensable specialities including arambaša and uštipak. In cooperation with the Chamber of Crafts and Commerce and the Association of Craftsmen in Sinj, who provided the presentation of the food, the Tourist Board of the Sinj presented two indigenous wine varieties, thrilling visitors with quality local wines from OPG Mažurin. The offer even included homemade bread under the bell from the Defender’s Cooperative Završće!
