Organized by the group ‘Sinjska Alka’, the weekend of August 26-28 will host the 31st “Brnaze Festival” at Meljač, part of Brnaze in the south of Sinj.
According to the Mayor of Sinj and the President of the group ‘Sinjska Alka’ Kristin Križanac, this project aims to continue the tradition of “Party to Meljač in Brnaze”, which was first held in 1974 and continuously held until 1990, then re-launched in 1999 after the war. The festival has not been held over the last few years.
“This is a valuable, cultural and original folk party with rich economic content for participants and producers of local products from the area of the Cetina region and the whole of Dalmatia. This is a festival of chivalry, heroism and folklore that is dedicated exclusively to the old disciplines, cultures and sports facilities. As in the past years, this year the festival will return to Meljač, known to the general public as the site of the ruins of an early Christian church. This site, which is one of the most famous sites in Europe, should be revalued through projects of cultural heritage protection and promotion for the site – that will be carried out through this project”, said Križanac.
In addition to the organization “Sinjska Alka”, other participants of this project are women entrepreneurs RH, Business Centre Sinj, associations, cultural associations from the area around the Cetina region, neighborhood councils, tourist boards, cities and municipalities, and the media.
