The first ever Kamešnica Trail Race was a success!
Despite the bad weather forecasts that resulted in moving the Saturday race to Sunday, the Kamešnica Trail was successfully held in the organization of the Cetina Adventure Club from Sinj and Trail and the trekking club ‘Strka’ from Split, who were the co-organizers of the race.
At the start of the race, which took place on Sunday at 10:00 in front of the Orlovac mountain lodge in Donja Korita (660 meters above sea level), 155 competitors participated, of which 19 competed in children’s categories. The trail was 8 kilometers long and 300 meters uphill, and the surprise of snow that covered the upper part of the track some 900 meters above sea level that night allowed runners to feel the true essence of winter.
The participants of the race, apart from witnessing the fascinating beauty of the Kamešnica mountain, could enjoy the domestic fry bread and cheeses waiting for them at the finish, prepared by the “Old Crafts” association from Sinj.
In addition to organizing the race, the Cetina Adventure Club also had its representatives in the race, including Elena Perković – Paloš, Petra Perić, Ivan Radan, Ivica Župić, Antonijo Majstrović, Ante Jurić and Ivica Jadrijević.
Marinko Koceić was the winner of the first Kamešnica Trail Race, while Ante Pešić-Golub and Krešimir Mrčela came in second and third in the men’s category. Eva Tušar Suhadolc won the women’s class, while Jadranka Žilić and Dobrila Dujšin took second and third place. For the winners in these two groups, the award was sponsored by Dalmesso in the form of pancetta which, without any doubt, was an excellent reward for the winners.
The prizes in the children’s categories were provided by Ankičin Slatki Svijet, who prepared medals for the winners in the form of beautiful domestic gingerbread.
You can see all of the race results on the Cetina Adventure Club Facebook page and the Strka Trail and Trekking Club.
The race also had an aspect of charity, as all the participants in the race helped the Red Cross – Sinj City Society. In this way, Cetina Adventure donated funds from each ticket of participation to the Red Cross.
This race was an introduction to what awaits on May 12, 2018, which is the “Sinj Trail” race, part of the Dalmatian Trail League. All additional information on this competition can be found on the Cetina Adventure Facebook page.
On this occasion, the members of the Cetina Adventure club thank everyone who contributed in any way to the organization of Kamešnica Trail.
